The Vampire facial utilizes Platelet-Rich-Plasma to rejuvenate the skin. We are able to stimulate the regeneration of healthy cells and tissue by utilizing the body’s natural healing powers that are activated by the growth factors and cell signals from PRP (one’s own blood)! What is PRP?

Our blood is made up of two main components – red blood cells and plasma. The plasma contains water, electrolytes, white blood cells and platelets. Platelets are integral to our body’s healing process. They contain many different growth factors and cell signaling substances that direct many different kinds of cells to grow, proliferate and migrate, thereby accelerating wound healing and skin turnover. PRP contains three to five times more platelets, growth factors, and active proteins for tissue and injury healing. In high concentration, platelets increase collagen production and new tissue growth resulting in more youthful, tighter skin.

What is the Vampire Facial?

The Vampire facial is a PRP treatment that is combined with microneedling. The treatment stimulates tissue healing and repair, which can address a variety of skin concerns, including scarring, aging, fine lines, pore size and sun damage. Vampire facials utilize the platelet properties to increase collagen production and skin turnover to give your skin a more glowing and tighter appearance. The treatment can also combat the signs of aging, soften fine lines, reduce visible sun damage and even out skin tone.

What is the process like?

Your appointment will begin with a topical numbing cream applied to the face. Then you will undergo a standard blood draw from your arm. The tube of blood is transferred to a centrifuge, where it is spun to separate the red blood cells from the plasma. The bottom layer of plasma contains a high concentration of platelets, which are then obtained and used for the treatment. The PRP is painted on the skin and then a microneedling device is used to create micro-injuries to the skin, allowing the PRP to absorb into the micro-punctures. This is then followed with painting another layer of PRP onto the skin allowing for even further absorption of the growth factors contained in the PRP. When PRP is placed back into the skin by microneedling, it initiates a localized stem cell response. Over the weeks and months following treatment, this stem cell response recruits collagen-producing cells called fibroblasts. The fibroblasts replace tissue that has been damaged or lost through the aging process with healthy skin that looks refreshed and rejuvenated. This combination of PRP and microneedling thus results in increased collagen production allowing for further stimulation, tightening and skin rejuvenation.

What Can I expect?

The treatment is essentially painless as we do use a numbing cream. Patients are to avoid washing their face or applying anything to the treated area for 4 hours and should refrain from any sweaty exercise for 12 hours following treatment. Excessive sun exposure should be avoided for 72 hours. Due to the thousands of micro-channels created during the treatment, the skin is vulnerable to the application of topical cleansers, creams, serums and makeup following the Vampire Facial. A post-treatment skin care regimen will be recommended to help expedite the healing process and minimize negative side effects.

For optimal results, we recommend 3 treatments at 1 month intervals followed by a single treatment every 4-6 months.
